“Sharing the same client on an Olympic effort, our agency found Lea-Ann a joy to work with. She was responsive, knowledgeable, and gave clear direction thereby making us more productive in our responsibilities.

Lea-Ann worked well under pressure and was able to keep a positive and upbeat attitude at all times. She worked extremely well with our team and we were lucky to have her as our contact.

We wish more consultants were like her.”

Meet this pioneering woman who shares her candid discussions about how businesses hire and retain employees today.

I askedĀ Fran O’SullivanĀ GM, Integrated Supply Chain, IBM: What type of focus does your company have when realizing new streams of talent?

Whether via new hires or via our talent programs as leaders it is part of our absolute core responsibility to invest in the future. We offer our employees the choice of being educated and learn how to be relevant for the roles of the future. We have identified those roles and the skills required to achieve the various levels of expertise. For our new hires, we hire personality and we train skill and we focus on how to onboard simpler and faster.

For our more experienced resource, we have an array of programs based on seniority and career paths. We encourage education via company wide programs like the ThinkAcademy where all the employees have the opportunity to learn more on subjects like Social, Analytics, Mobile, Security etc.

At the end of the day is again about offering the choice and opportunity. It is then up to each of us to take the opportunities and learn. I have my own development plan which I keep current and continuously focus on re-inventing myself.
