The #theDREAMinitiative is sparking career goals around the world!

When Sleddogg decided to be an official sponsor of #SPARKcon2013 (September 12-15), they had a spark of their own (pun intended)…how about do something to help spark a business or nonprofit idea or…a career goal?!

Dreams can come true when we are passionate about them

But how many of us realize it starts with writing them down? When it comes to strategic approaches in Sleddogg’s consulting practice, clients have learned: writing down goals causes a business to not only feel a level of commitment to their goals, it also forces them clarify what they want and, in turn, to develop a systematic approach to achieving the goal!

Why not apply this philosophy to real world people who want to make an impact in the world…make a change…or just plain start over again?

And, when a new-found goal is shouted out to the world it transforms into a pledge! “I thought: this will be fun!,” shared Lea-Ann Berst, Principal at Sleddogg. “And if I can do this right — this may just be the first step someone takes towards realizing their dream!”

Lea-Ann started contacting people from Raleigh and the world.

She contacted people she knew wanted to realize aspirations beyond what they are currently doing. She challenged them to share their dream. And then she gave them the fill-in-the-blank questions…

“I started this effort just one week ago and can’t believe the dreams that have started flooding in! I have posted three so far but have several more in my reader,” said Lea-Ann. “It tells me folks not only need that ‘spark’, they need support. In each post I challenge the reader to reach out and provide tips, resources, or say a few words of encouragement.”

Sleddogg doesn’t want the spark to end when SPARKcon is over. “the DREAM initiative” will continue long after the event. You don’t need to share your dreams with Lea-Ann, but if you feel so inclined, then she would love to see them! So write her – share your dream story with her – and let Lea-Ann help you to make that public pledge!

“the DREAM initiative” is a spinoff of postcard ‘art’ being created during SPARKcon’s ideaSPARK September 12-15. Called my BIG fat secret, visitors at the event will be asked, “Do you have a secret? How about a secret life dream? A secret fear? What about a secret bucket list?”

my BIG fat secret is much like PostSecret, but instead of collecting secrets via postcards in the mail, our postcards are collected during SPARKcon and posted to an online gallery for all to see. It’s fun…it’s a community art collective!

About SPARKcon: SPARKcon is the annual showcase of creativity, innovation, originality, talent and artistry to feature the Triangle region of North Carolina as the creative hub of the South. Founded in 2006 by Beth and Aly Khalifa and Designbox, SPARKcon hosts hundreds of performances and exhibits in a unique arts festival created and organized by designers, artists, community organizers, and volunteers. The 2013 event, the eight annual SPARKcon, will be held Sept. 12-15 on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh, N.C. SPARKcon is designed for local artists to help educate children, encourage tourism and allow for local economies to continue to grow. It is a program of the Visual Art Exchange, a Raleigh nonprofit whose mission is to support emerging artists and connect the community to the arts. Each year, SPARKcon has more than 50 organizers, hundreds of local talents, hundreds of volunteers helping behind the scenes and thousands of attendees. It is directly aligned with the Visual Art Exchange’s mission to support and provide opportunities for local artists. SPARKcon is unique because it is an event fully developed by artists and the creative community, who are encouraged to use their creative talent and insight to produce their own engaging and inspiring programs.
